1. Help Available to Meet August 1 Recycling Plan Due Date

The Department of Public Works (DPW) Solid Waste Education and Enforcement Program (SWEEP) reminds all commercial establishments that they must submit their "Commercial Recycling Plan" before August 1, 2002. SWEEP is available to help you identify recyclable items and submit the mandatory recycling plan. Contact William Easley at (202) 645-8245 or william.easley@dc.gov now to make sure your business is ready when enforcement begins after August 2002.

2. DC Agencies Take Online Business Tools to the Community

Over the next three months, District agencies will conduct workshops on their online licensing, tax, and business information services. The "DC Business Tools Roadshow" will brief businesses and nonprofits on the Business Resource Center, Master Business License, and Electronic Tax Service Center.

3. The District Makes Hiring a Great Team Even Easier

Find qualified employees online using the Virtual One Stop website operated by the Department of Employment Services (DOES). Here you can submit requirements for job openings, review resumes, and identify candidates with matching skills and experience.

The "Employer Links" section provides a comprehensive list of employer-related topics, including incentives, labor relations, government resources, and ergonomics. Virtual One Stop also provides useful industry analyses of the local labor market.
