1. reSTORE DC Boosts Lending Capacity of Local Microloan Program Small and emerging retail businesses in the District of Columbia now have a new source of money to help them grow. In October, Mayor Anthony A. Williams presented a grant award of $150,000 to the Latino Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) for support of LEDC's Microloan Program. The grant funds are made available through reSTORE DC, the Mayor's neighborhood commercial revitalization initiative, and its Commercial Property Acquisition and Development (CP-A&D) program. This grant award to LEDC will allow the community-based nonprofit corporation to expand its lending capabilities by offering small loans to higher risk loan applicants at lower interest rates than previously available through the microloan program. LEDC will also offer post-loan technical assistance to successful applicants. CP-A&D is designed to provide financial assistance to non-profit corporations in acquiring or developing retail commercial properties in the District of Columbia. Applications for funding are currently being accepted on a rolling basis until December 15, 2003. For more information about CP-A&D and the other programs offered through reSTORE DC, please visit reSTORE DC or call (202) 727-5208. 2.
