1. Commuter Connections Promotes Telework Workshops

Commuter Connections is promoting three workshops designed to help employers maximize and manage their telework programs. Teleworking, also known as telecommuting, means using information technology and telecommunications to replace work-related travel.

Each workshop is interactive and packed with facts, tools, and enlightening discussion targeted to today's business needs and challenges. Participate in problem-solving dialogues; explore case studies and business scenarios; work with useful templates and guidelines that can streamline and accelerate your organization's telework program. Learn solutions and best practices for telework from the experts and share insights with colleagues who are facing similar challenges.

Commuter Connections is a regional network of transportation organizations coordinated by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. If you live or work in the Metropolitan Washington DC area, Commuter Connections can provide you with information on all your commute options, so you can make a smart choice about how you travel to work. Commuter Connections also helps employers establish commuting benefits and assistance programs, including telework/telecommute programs, for their employees.

2. Metropolitan Police Reminds Constituents About Listserv Groups

The Metropolitan Police Department is continuing to promote online community listserv groups for each of its districts. The listservs were established as online dialogues to address nuisance issues and crime concerns.

The community groups are created using Yahoo! Groups. Once the web pages are established, members join by visiting the web page or by sending a blank email to a designated address to subscribe. From that point on, all messages posted to the site are sent to the members' designated email addresses. Users can also opt out of receiving messages, and opt, instead, to visit the web page to read all posted messages. Additionally, they can choose to receive a daily digest, which is composed of all the day's messages in one email, at the end of each day.

Read more information or sign up for a listserv.

4. Development Conference Features DC Marketing Center and District Agencies

Michael Stevens, President and CEO of the Washington, DC Marketing Center, will be speaking at the Development in Washington, DC conference highlighting the economic development renaissance in Washington. The Institute for Professional and Executive Development (IPED) conference will be held on March 31 - April 1, 2005.

With over $34 billion in commercial and residential development since 2001 and new development occurring in each of the District's core economies, the District of Columbia is one of the strongest and most dynamic economies and investment markets in the country.

Where is development in the District heading over the next three to five years? Who are the key players and decision makers in the District government and in the private sector? What are the financing tools and incentives available to help make your next project viable? What are the planning and regulatory requirements that you need to know? If you are looking to participate in the next wave of development in the nation's capital, this seminar offers a unique opportunity to gain useful information and insights from top District policy makers and practitioners.

More information is available online, including a speakers list, agenda, and online registration.
